After years of working in various careers and industries with little job satisfaction Leigh made a drastic career change from legal office administration to apprentice truck and transport mechanic.
Being the only woman in her heavy mechanical trades class Leigh had the opportunity to speak publicly on behalf of her college, program, skilled trade workers and most importantly on behalf of women in trades.
This sparked a passion for encouraging other women to break through barriers in non-traditional roles. As a natural progression and a love for where she trained, Leigh now works as Student Recruitment Specialist at Vancouver Community College.
Leigh advocates for women in non-traditional roles and speaks to the importance of diversity in traditionally male-dominated industries.
